The countries bordering the Atlantic Ocean and/or the Mediterranean Sea can be affected by an earthquake and potentially a tsunami. Despite the fact that governments are aware of this danger, few measures have been adopted to reduce the impact and increase the resilience of the population. Also, these areas are very attractive for tourism, and the sales and tourism agents, and the civil protection and municipalities responsible, must be involved on awareness and mitigation measures.
Among these measures the awareness of population and visitors is fundamental. But also the design and signaling of existent hazards (for instance, tsunami hazard in the beaches) as well as the design of evacuation routes must be known. Training safety measures is also very important.
