Informing and raising awareness of children can be effective in DRR, provided that children have acquired and consolidated adequate skills on how to behave in different emergency situations, which may establish in day by day activity or may be caused by natural, man-made and ecological trigger.
This supposes not solely the development of relevant thematic chapters of the course “Basic knowledge on safe life activities basis”, but also due to its specifics proposes the development of methodological materials for the teachers.
There is an array of educational training manuals that contain brief methodological guidelines on teaching this particular course, partially included into the “Introduction”. However, a “Methodology”, as a universal scientific educational manual on how to teach the course in general, aiming to offer fundamental training to teachers, doesn’t exist.
The global aim of this project is to develop a Methodology for teaching the course “Basics in safe life activities” for public school teachers in order to fill the lack of a fundamental training in this domain. The methodology accompanies teachers in order to achieve an optimal result in the training of their pupils: acquisition of good reflexes to act safely on a daily basis and in emergency situations, ability to detect imminent danger, increased consideration for oneself, others and the environment.
